A valve motor on a cheap v-ball valve can be used to control flow. The connection between the motor and the valve itself can have some veil or deadband I believe it's called. This means if the PID gives an output signal which is on an inclining trend then there is no problem but as soon the output turns around and wants to go down then the veil on the connection between the motor and the valve prevents the valve from moving even though the controller wants to start moving it in the opposite direction.
Is it possible to program this in the PLC to know what the valve position really is and how much the motor really needs to move in order to change the position of the valve?
